Moeaki named Big Ten POTW

Iowa senior tight end Tony Moeaki was named the Big Ten's Offensive Player of the week after Iowa's 30-28 win over Michigan on Oct. 10. Moeaki had six receptions for 105 yards and two touchdowns (34, 42 yards). It was the first time the 6-4, 250-pound tight end had earned the honor and also his first game for the Hawks since the Iowa State game on Sept. 12. The Wheaton, Ill., native has 17 catches for 192 yards and three touchdowns in three games for the Hawkeyes.

  1. Smith, jw your thoughts on Moeaki's shot at the next level? I'm sure NFL scouts have him on their radars because he is so talented, but is his health and durability too much of an issue for him to get drafted or have a career in the League??

  2. Good question, Robbie. Funny thing, I was watching the NFL Network count down the top 10 pro coaches who should have stayed in college. I bring this up because Dan Dierdorf said during the show that, "the NFL is a league for men." Like you said, Moeaki is definitely talented as he was an All-American coming out of high school. However, if the League is for men, Moeaki might be in some trouble. As far as getting drafted, sure, I think so. But a career in the League is hard to sustain. NFL, which means Not For Long. Time will tell.
